In config the paths you see are suggestions as to where they might typically be found ... they are not actually discovered paths by moodle code.

An X next to the box means your moodle cannot find it.

From command line see if the path is pointed to an alias.

ls -l /usr/bin/gs/

If you see: lrwxrwxrwx that's a symlink/alias and to the right you will see the real path your system is using for that symlink/alias.

Also use 'which ghostscript' to see from the command line environment where ghostscript is located.

Use the real path.

Also check web service error logs as well as a secure log for hints/clues.

I recommend contact with your hosting admin.

My control panel provider offer me a script to bypass default configuration.

which ghostscript give me path /usr/bin/ghostscript

cd /usr/bin

ll

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 Dec 4 10:05 ghostscript -> /usr/bin/gs*

above is the output

so now tell me the path is /usr/bin/ghostscript or /usr/bin/gs ?????

even i tried putting both path to test ghostscript but i saw same error as above

also after this when i click continue i go to the page where i see something error just check the screenshot i send you
also i give read /write permission to /educationmoodledata/temp/assignfeedback_editpdf_test even not get any result

the main problem is ghostscript once the path is correct then it work but i cant understand what is the problem??

ghostscript: /usr/bin/ghostscript /usr/lib64/ghostscript /etc/ghostscript /usr/include/ghostscript /usr/share/ghostscript /usr/share/man/man1/ghostscript.1.gz

also i want to know that unoconv is also need to install in server or not??
please anyone have any idea please reply here i need some clue or idea also if this problem comes through hosting provider should i need to contact to them as they dont have any idea about this

Stop Assignment Feedback Notifications to Students

I have to mark a large number of assignments and when I complete marking one assignment the student gets feedback and informs the other students and I receive a flurry of emails. 

I have disabled notifications in the "Grading"sections but students still see their marks.

Please assist, thank you.

Since you and provider are struggling with ghostscript, would think unoconv would be even more of a difficulty.

There is an alternative to unoconv ... that's to use Google.

Deleting orphaned assignment activities

A teacher user has deleted a number of assignment activities from a course, but they remain in the gradebook. Additionally, the activities remain listed in the course's assignment index (/mod/assign/index.php?id=x), but not assigned to a section.

Short of directly deleting database entries, does anyone here know of a way to delete such assignment activities?

Attaching a Rubric to an Assignment Tool

Hi,

Is it possible to attach a Rubric to the Assignment Tool, similar to attaching a Rubric to Turnitin?

Are there generic instructions for doing this?

I have listened to presenters talk about this, however their instructions did not translate to the Moodle I am using.

Assigment 2.2 in Moodle 3.8

Hello, I have upgraded my site from 3.5 to 3.8 version, but I cant use assigment 2.2. Is there any fix to convert these assigments to new version ?

"cant use assigment 2.2" ... true ... not an error.   Those should have been upgraded to new many many many moons ago.

But if you have those old assigment 2.2 in courses that have not been upgraded, try this:

Enable the old assigment 2.2 plugin (eye dosn't show closed) ... still can't pick it from drop downs in new resources, but does an 'Assignment Upgrade Helper' appear in either Site Admin menu or Course Admin menu?   If so, click it and upgrade them.

Other than that ... guess you'll have to 'rebuild' those assignments.

I came upon this discussion: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=367028 and I could not find a tracker created accordingly.

However, I have suggestion for this. In the grading screen, you have this:


You can see the 'allow another attempt' selection right below.

How about adding a 'Lock submission' option there as well?

I also have noticed students changing their work after it has been graded. And we need to have a copy of the graded work (by law). But students can delete and resubmit (even if you only give them one attempt)

So... should I create a tracker for this?

upload submission on student behalf

Hello,

For several reasons, there is a small percentage of students in my class that are unable to upload a submission. To save some time, I asked them to email me. I have already provided feedback. But I would like to upload their submission into the class. 

I saw on another discussion to: click on assignment>view all submissions>edit> edit submissions. However, my only options are to grant extension,update grade, prevent submission edits.

Is this a setting error? Its not available as a manager or instructor.

Student upload a print-screen in assignment

Hello,

I'd like to achieve the following: 

there is a course in Moodle and at the end there is a link to an external quiz (hosted outside Moodle), I'd like to have evidence that my students have passed the quiz so I've created an assessment activity where they can upload the image of the successful completion. I've disabled grades, but still in the system is says waiting for grading which is very misleading. Is there an easy way to do this? I'd like to avoid gradebook completely.

If would be like a simple file upload and I can run a report on it later and download files.

Did you set an End Date for the submission? If so, remove that condition to enable Edit Submission.

I have tried removing dates. But it only resulted in the "Grant Extension" in the drop down to disappear. Where can you remove the End Date? These are the areas that can be edited.
