Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can help or shed any light on why we are having such problems with creating a workable assignment submission process in 2.4
I am trying to do something in Moodle that seems simple enough:
- Students submit an assignment
- Students can submit late for 1 week up to cut off date
- Assignments are marked and moderated
- Grades and feedback are released to students. (It is important to us that this happens at the same time after moderation)
Surely this procedure is fairly common place and I am not doing anything out of the ordinary?
However I am running into a number of obstacles when it comes to keeping results hidden from students; Moodle seems to want stduents to see their results as and when they are marked. First we upgraded to 2.4.2 and could not achieve this as grade feedback is being released to students even when the feedback is hidden: reported tracker issue: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-38376
So we upgraded another moodle to 2.4 so we did not encounter this issue. However we now have a problem with emails. Student’s receive an email when they submit their assignments which is what we want. They then receive an email when their assignment has been marked, even though the feedback and grade is hidden. Surely this can’t be right? The only way we can get around this is by turning off all assignment emails in Messaging settings (changed to disallowed)
Does anyone know where I might be going wrong? is there a way to turn off notification that an assignment has been marked but not notification of submission? Seems to be similar to this 2.3 tracker issue:
https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-33600
I am thinking that perhaps I am going down the wrong road with assignment submissions; surely it can’t be this problematic to configure?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Louise
