All you really have to install is the PoodLL mods. The PoodLL filter contains all the audio / video recording functions and the other mods just call into that. So you could just install the filter and the assignment submission if that was the only place you needed to use it.
The other mods are the database activity field, the assignment feedback mod, the repository and the question type.
Yes, I should have been more specific about the Red5 thing. You can record direct to MP3 using the MP3 Recorder option without any Red5, and that is the recommended way. For longer recordings, say more than 2 minutes, the old style audio recording(Red5) might be more reliable. That is still available.
For video recording from PCs we still use Red5. However for both video and old style audio recording, you don't need to run your own red5 server. You can use our Red5 server located in Tokyo. That is the default and it should work out of the box. The recordings are not stored on Red5, they are copied immediately back into your Moodle data directory.
You can also record from mobile devices, and they also skip the Red5 step.
