Check the naming of the files submitted - we have had issues where students have simply taken the default Word file name using essentially the first sentence of the file, this then contains punctuation marks or symbols which, while they may be allowable in a filename on a local computer, have meaning in a web address. This then prevents the download of the file as the symbols are interpreted by the browser according to their web meaning rather than as part of the file name of the submission.
We were able to download the file concerned by logging in as the student and accessing the file from their submissions page - file management is then through the repository system rather than by url in the browser, I would assume?
The solution appears to be one of training students (and staff) to rename their files appropriately before uploading them and not to just accept long default filenames which don't really mean anything.
