You will need to explain the symptoms of the crash much better for anyone to be able to provide specific help for you.
As Damyon said, this is unlikely to be specifically Moodle as linking to an assignment being the cause of browsers crashing would never have made it past the developer let alone past the testers into the wild (I'm not saying Moodle, or any other piece of software can't have bugs, but something as fundamental as linking to an assignment crashing a browser? However one thing which may have caused an issue is if you/your staff have copied and pasted something into your assignment page direct from Word. MSWord brings a lot of background formatting information with it and this can often cause a page to crash. This is NOT a Moodle bug, but a known problem with MSWord and one reason why so many web-based text editors provide a tool for pasting plain text and/or 'cleaned' text from Word.
If you can give more information about the problem then someone may be able to help you further.
