The following ticket was sent to us (the Moodle Administration):
Students should upload their solutions to a set deadline. The time 23:55 is set and the setting ”prevent subsequent presentation” is activated. However, it happens that a few minutes after the deadline, test solutions are still accepted by Moodle. Some students send us their solutions by e-mail, if they have missed the deadline. Because we reject the E-Mails, the Moodle should also unaccept late uploads.
My question is therefore, why does Moodle allow late submissions?
We tested as Moodle Admins a test submission. Once the process "submit job" was started, (opening the file picker is enough), the submission is in spite of all warning messages that we have “exceeded the time”, successfully after the deadline. While the student gets the information about the exceeded time limit in the moodle course, the sent mail to the student unfortunately contains no indication that the time has been exceeded - the lecturer instead is informed about the exceeded time limt.
Have we missed something in the teacher's settings? How is that done at other universities? For further information see also
