I don't know off-hand whether landscape PDF documents work in Moodle 2.7, however why not try on the School demo site. You can log in as a student and upload a landscape PDF to http://school.demo.moodle.net/mod/assign/view.php?id=573 then log out and log in again as a teacher to check it out. Please let us know how you get on!
