As I see it, once the start date has passed, then grade should be 0 and a motivation to submit the project. Since I ignore/block category totals, I see no reason why all assignments at the beginning of the term are not set to 0. Why should I waste my time entering a 0 if the student is not going to make an effort to submit something.
