If you look at the users in the course, what course role do they have? Do they have any system roles?
Re: View/grade all submissions issues
Re: View/grade all submissions issues
Well they are students, as well as course managers. course administrators and editing students
Same issue here but I am not sure what OP was on about TBH

Re: View/grade all submissions issues
I believe the poster in the forum which you linked to was experiencing the same problem as that explained in the Assignment FAQ Seems like he asked for his thread to be deleted as he had discovered the Assignment forum (where we are now), so I will probably delete that thread a little later on.
Re: View/grade all submissions issues
ahhhhhhhh
I see, sorry

Re: View/grade all submissions issues
Actually Ken, as we had a DB of 4GB with no opportunity to empty the standard log table as people use the logs for various reports we were forced to run the web GUI version of the search and replace script. It kept stopping at the standard log table. using Chrome we determined that we thought this was the last of 418 tables but cannot be sure of this!
Very odd
Oh and one further piece of information, and my mistake, we are actually running moodle 2.7, i wondered why I kept seeing bootstrap elements in the theme
So this brings me to another question? Is there a cli search and replace in 2.7 and how do I run it, to make sure this was right in the first place

Re: Shared host - can't install ghostscript or unoconv
Move hosts
Even on shared mine allows all that stuff and more.
Cheers
Re: View/grade all submissions issues
Think in that version it was a hidden experimental tool ... had to access it via url ... no link in Moodle Admin menus.
http://yoursite/admin/tool/replace/
It does warn ... might be a good idea to backup DB before running ... think it suggest that.
Have used it and don't re-call having any issues with it.

Hidden deadline
If I use on the settings page of an activity the restrict access, I can add dates with from and until settings.
As teacher I see these dates in the settings overview.
As student I only see the from setting, not the until..
Why is this and how to change that, because it is very confusing: students think now that the from is the until deadline.
Re: Shared host - can't install ghostscript or unoconv
Hi David,
We are also hosted on a shared server using Moodle 3.3. Like you I would have liked teachers to annotate PDFs in the assignment module but our host will not install this feature on a shared server. I don't miss this feature nor did I hear any complains from other teachers. As we have a very tight budget for our DE site, I am glad that we are still hosted on a shared server with a timely and competent technical support. So you are not alone on a shared server without the annotation feature. But if you really want it, your host may have a plan that includes the installation of this feature.
With kind regards,
Hartmut
Re: Shared host - can't install ghostscript or unoconv
Thanks for that - will shop around!
Re: Shared host - can't install ghostscript or unoconv
Thanks - you're probably right. I suspect very few teachers would be interested.
Cheers,
David
Re: Hidden deadline
I mean: I see the dates in the section overview
Re: Hidden deadline
Hello Ger. I think this might be related to the this tracker issue MDL-62379, which has an explanation from Sam Marshall, restrict access developer.
Re: Hidden deadline
Yes, that is exactly the problem..
MDL-62379 writes: "In general, for students, we never show conditions if you can access the activity."
Well.. this explanation is not covering the situation:
- When the activity is not open yet, students sees the "from" condition: according the explanation both conditions should be visible
- Both (and other) conditions disappear as soon as the activity is open?
- Why not show the conditions all the time: why should student not wish to keep the conditions seeing? (Student more in control of his/her own learning...)
and...
- The wish to keep showing the deadline when the activity is open is another good wish in MDL-62379
Re: Random marker allocation
I had a look at the moodle source code and it is not clear that I could easily write a plugin myself to add this behaviour (random marker allocation). Does anyone know if this is correct?
Re: Shared host - can't install ghostscript or unoconv
Hi David,
If you happen to have access to a G Suite for Education (or Business) environment, there is another way to facilitate the annotate PDF functionality in Assignment grading. You'd have to set up an OAuth2 connection with this G Suite environment and connect a system account, and then set up the Google Document converter instead of the unoconv/gs one. This latter one is notoriously prone to crashing, as it may well do in a shared host type of setup.
View All Submission redirect to wrong screen
I have a teacher user on Moodle 3.4 who wants to grade an assignment with 9 submissions.
When she clicks on "View All Submissions" then she lands on this attached screen where you take bulk actions which is very weird. There's no way to leave this screen also to hopefully land on the class view where you can see all submissions.
Other teachers on this same site can click on View All Submission successfully for the same assignment and they're re-directed to the grid-view of all submissions.
It happens for this user across assignments and sites. She can grade, but accessing individual grading directly.
For some reason she can't access the grid-view for all assignments. Tried on Chrome with cache clear.
Re: View All Submission redirect to wrong screen
Hi Louisa,
Have you noticed there's a Workflow filter active for this teacher? Based on the screenshot you've provided, the submissions list has been filtered to only display the submissions with Workflow status 'In marking'. If there are no submissions meeting this criteria, the list will obviously be empty.
Toggling the value for the Workflow filter to display all submissions would display the full list of all the students.
Alternatively, the teacher could click the Grade button (instead of the Show all submissions one) from the assignment overview page to start grading his/her submissions.
Re: View All Submission redirect to wrong screen
wow thanks so much. It even keeps that filter after logging out really appreciate you pointed me to that.
Advice on large submissions for 3D graphics/computing students
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone here has students following computing courses where they need to upload submissions for 3D work. I have been discussing with course tutors about issues with upload sizes. We currently allow 400MB uploads for submissions and I am told that this is not sufficient as they need full frame 3D renders, un-optimised Photoshop files etc.
If I were to simply grant them the file sizes they needed - Moodle would suddenly use up 4 times the space it currently does. I realise storage is "cheap" but this argument does not change the fact that backups need to be stored and processed and with multiple day VM backups of the Moodle server this takes considerable space on backup infrastructure.
If anyone else has students who need to submit 3D work I would love to hear what you do regarding this. If it were simply video then I would use eStream submissions - but it is more than that it seems.
if anyone can offer any advice, I would love to hear it.
Kind Regards
